I live right off the Goldfield & Superstition Mtns here in Apache Jct. Ive been hiking allot in the early mornings and finally remembered to take my camera the other day. Here are some photos from that hike.
As far as rockhounding goes, these mtns are just about all Granite. Thats a good sign to find all kinds of gemstones. Fire agates are what i am always looking for, or Druzy.
*blooming Ironwood over the FlatIron

*Saguaro, Otctille over my neighborhood, Flatiron in the background

*tuffa with limegreen Licins. anyone hungry?

*two shots of a boulder grouping with PassMtn in the background.

*Ironwood trunk

*Superstition Flatiron framed by nature. (The Flatiron is one of four Calderas in this area for anyone interested)

*Infamouse Arizona Stinkweasel

*Full Ironwood bloom, early Summer bloomers.

*Ironwood trunk#2, what do you see?

*Cactus are often taller than you in the Sonoran desert. I had to look up to take this shot.

*The sun finally hit me as i return to the car. hope you enjoy these as i do the hiking.

Well, the show @ trunkspace went really well i say. I want to thank everyone who did come out, thank you very much. To all the punks that had excusses, ive been there, done that. So i cant hold any of you responsible for missing the Black & Blue’s best show to date. And after further conversation with the band mates, we are down, but not out.
Our rehessral the night before the show, was a real blowheart, and was just there to get some energy out. We went through our set once, bullshited a bit and that was it. It was like riding a bike all over again. And the show went even better, with even more controled energy.
I had fun and got to see a couple really cool bands, Huanted Colonge is a riot and anyone who thinks local music is the same thing they hear all the time, either metal/trash, or crap emo. Check out Huanted Colonge for a real surpise and breath of fresh air.
Below the salt was really amazing as well, all acoustic with a female singer who reminds me of the ole ragtime sound. I really enjoyed thier dynamic, but couldnt hear the Dobro player that much. Still i had to get the CD becasue the songs are a real insperation to any musician in my opinion.
Empire of the bear had a style all his own, and looked like he had fun getting them songs across to the crowd.
All i can say is next time, if there really will be a next time for the B&B. Its gonna be north, out of the valley. So, hears to seein ya on the flipside!

OK, I’ve been off blog for only just a few months. Loll nothing new lately right? Well, sometimes I just don’t have anything to say. To try to hard saying something that really doesn’t matter to anyone than my own reading of them. So, I am always still around, just deep in music.
So here is an update for anyone interested, my band, The Black & Blue Revue went south a couple months ago. What happened was the lead guy (mandolin) decided he needed to more away to Las Vegas for better work. However it was kind of sudden and gave me a little jerk. At the same moment, the drummer decided it was time to let me and the Bass player know he and the little lady were going to be moving back closer to family on the east coast to start a family of their own. With that said, the Black & Blue Revue would cease to be.
However, during this time we all kind of went silent. But for some reason, a venue here in Phoenix heard about us and pestered our MySpace email to come play a show there. Since this was the one place the mandolin player really wanted to play. We all agreed to one last hooray to show Phoenix just what we are made of. This show will take place on 6/24/08 Tuesday evening at 8pm at Trunk Space. Visit our MySpace to get further details. http://www.myspace.com/blackandbluerevue
So during this same time, I’ve been working on what promo leads I could to get the band heard and finally got an interesting Radio/podcast station out of Bakersfield call Radio free Bakersfield. Music inspired the good old country of the 50’s & 60’s. You can listen to their free podcast at this link;

I’ve also been deeply embedded on co-creating, writing and recording music over the last couple months. I have many new original songs you can hear on my profile link here; http://www.myspace.com/curlymatthau
Just laid down a neat version of “Blue Diamond Mines", check it out when you got the time.
