I just caught this bit of info and needed to share it with you all songwriters out there. It’s pretty simple game here folks, doesn’t really take a whole lotta on your part to tell people. Give them the links here and let them decide for themselves. But its pretty damn clear individual’s rights will be stepped on hard, with no recourse by the victim unless they are rich. How many rich song writers do you know about?
“Big Changes To The Copyright Act That Will Affect YOU
Congress is quietly passing a significant change to the Copyright Act that will radically restructure copyright law and legalize the infringement of artists’ rights.
Driven by commercial interests, the Shawn Bentley Orphan Works Act (named for the late AOL lobbyist) creates a safe harbor that will allow the use of songs, sound recordings, illustrations, music videos or any other copyright in any manner by anyone (whom the Shawn Bentley Act defines as an infringer) who is unable to find the copyright owner after a “reasonably diligent” search “in good faith.” No requirements exist for a “reasonably diligent search” in the Act.
“Safe Harbor” For Infringers
In a nutshell, the Shawn Bentley Orphan Works Act gives infringers yet another “safe harbor” from statutory damages or legal fees unless the infringer acted in bad faith in his search, which can only be proven in a lawsuit. The burden of proof (and court costs) lies with the copyright owner.
In Orphan Works Land, the infringer is not required to notify anyone of his…..”

I live right off the Goldfield & Superstition Mtns here in Apache Jct. Ive been hiking allot in the early mornings and finally remembered to take my camera the other day. Here are some photos from that hike.
As far as rockhounding goes, these mtns are just about all Granite. Thats a good sign to find all kinds of gemstones. Fire agates are what i am always looking for, or Druzy.
*blooming Ironwood over the FlatIron

*Saguaro, Otctille over my neighborhood, Flatiron in the background

*tuffa with limegreen Licins. anyone hungry?

*two shots of a boulder grouping with PassMtn in the background.

*Ironwood trunk

*Superstition Flatiron framed by nature. (The Flatiron is one of four Calderas in this area for anyone interested)

*Infamouse Arizona Stinkweasel

*Full Ironwood bloom, early Summer bloomers.

*Ironwood trunk#2, what do you see?

*Cactus are often taller than you in the Sonoran desert. I had to look up to take this shot.

*The sun finally hit me as i return to the car. hope you enjoy these as i do the hiking.

Well, the show @ trunkspace went really well i say. I want to thank everyone who did come out, thank you very much. To all the punks that had excusses, ive been there, done that. So i cant hold any of you responsible for missing the Black & Blue’s best show to date. And after further conversation with the band mates, we are down, but not out.
Our rehessral the night before the show, was a real blowheart, and was just there to get some energy out. We went through our set once, bullshited a bit and that was it. It was like riding a bike all over again. And the show went even better, with even more controled energy.
I had fun and got to see a couple really cool bands, Huanted Colonge is a riot and anyone who thinks local music is the same thing they hear all the time, either metal/trash, or crap emo. Check out Huanted Colonge for a real surpise and breath of fresh air.
Below the salt was really amazing as well, all acoustic with a female singer who reminds me of the ole ragtime sound. I really enjoyed thier dynamic, but couldnt hear the Dobro player that much. Still i had to get the CD becasue the songs are a real insperation to any musician in my opinion.
Empire of the bear had a style all his own, and looked like he had fun getting them songs across to the crowd.
All i can say is next time, if there really will be a next time for the B&B. Its gonna be north, out of the valley. So, hears to seein ya on the flipside!
